ARTISTIC ARK SAILS AWAY

Submitted by Editor on

Today is a milestone in Broughton’s recent cultural history.

When  its doors close at 6pm this evening, it will be the end of Edinburgh Printmakers’ three decades at 23 Union Street.

Workshop, retail and gallery spaces will transfer to a new, bigger and better facility at Castle Mills in Fountainbridge. We wish all concerned an unstressful voyage and successful reberth in spring 2019.

In the meantime, today is locals’ last chance to enjoy the final Broughton exhibition: Deluge.

Appropriately enough for a former municipal washhouse, artists were invited to contribute works examining water, a medium which has permeated No. 23 throughout its long years and various permutations.

The result is a hugely varied and stimulating range of responses, curated by David Faithfull, and generously described and illustrated in an online catalogue HERE.

It’s is a bitter-sweet occasion for all who have enjoyed Edinburgh Printmakers’ presence in the heart of this community for so long. We’ll keep you posted on the building’s next chapter as and when we know it.
