Waverley Care – the Mansfield Place-based charity – has been awarded £20,000 by the Bank of Scotland Foundation.
Part of the Bank's Small Grants Programme, the sum will fund the charity's advocacy and information service. This offers financial advice, and support in testing and treatments for Hepatitis C and HIV. An increased demand for its assistance has recently coincided with changes in benefits legislation and the ongoing recession.
Meanwhile, through the same Foundation's Matched Giving Programme, Waverley Care has received £1,000 from staff at Lloyds Banking Group. This is just the latest instance of their generosity, with previous efforts including volunteers' involvement in decorating, gardening and bucket-shaking.
The Bank of Scotland's Chair, Kate Guthrie, commented: 'We've had a fantastic response to the Small Grants Programme and are delighted to make these first awards to very deserving organisations such as Waverley Care. We know this award will bring valuable support to people living with HIV'.
