WICKED WOOFS FOR ALL THE FAMILY
Over 20 Broughton/Leith Walk businesses are participating in the second annual Gayfield Square Halloween Dog Parade on Saturday 29 October between noon and 2 p.m. in the garden.
One of those behind the event, local resident Laura Graham, told the Spurtle, ‘It’s going to be exactly like a typical Halloween party for children, but with dog families – and their humans – all dressed up to show off, win prizes, and have a wonderfully spooky time.’
There will be a parade in the park starting at 12.45 p.m., and the judges will award prizes in many categories.
Tricks and treats
Local businesses around the neighbourhood – including Artisan Roast, Bowzos, Crombie’s, Colourful Paws, Rollo, Pickles, Narcissus, Boombarbers, Newtown Deli, The Chippy, Eden’s Kitchen, Broken Clock Patisserie, Medusa Hair, Valvona & Crolla, Typewronger, Tatty Shaw’s and Clanfit Personal Training – have donated amazing prizes. Together with donations from lovely neighbours, prizes have reached a value of nearly £800.
The organisers, The Doggie Committee of The Friends of Gayfield Square Garden, say they are absolutely thrilled. ‘All funds raised will go towards further improvements in the garden, to help build our wonderful community, canine and human, and to promote future events.
‘We hope this will become a wonderful and regular fixture of Edinburgh’s alternative culture scene.
‘For each entry donation of £5 per family, there will be hot drinks (hot cider for adult humans), sweets and other spooky treats, so come and enjoy!’
