Normally Spurtle researches stories rather than lifting them wholesale from press releases (unlike a certain other Edinburgh newspaper we could mention).
On this occasion, however, the City of Edinburgh Council event described is so unintentionally hilarious (it even gets the date of St Valentine's Day wrong), so half-baked in conception, so utterly unlikely to succeed that we recycle the details in full. They are beyond parody.

LOVE TO HATE WASTE?
Fall in love with recycling at the Waste Education Cabin’s St Valentine’s day event on Saturday 13 February.
Family fun and activities as well as free goodies will be on offer at the Waste Education Cabin at Seafield on Saturday 13 February, as families are invited to take part in a St. Valentine’s fun day.
Edinburgh’s biggest recycling centre will be opening it doors for visitors to learn about the journey that waste takes and what we can do to reduce, reuse and recycle. Learn about what happens to recycled material and find out how important it is to recycle.
Alchemy Arts who provide socially inclusive and environmentally aware art projects will also be on site running workshops and making crafts out of recycled material.
Cllr Robert Aldridge, Environment Leader for the City of Edinburgh Council said:
"This St. Valentines family day will offer a range of exciting activities for all the family to enjoy and I'm sure everyone will have great fun exploring different ways to cut down on waste and follow the Reduce Reuse Recycle message."
