COUNCIL TAKES STEPS TO REPAIR BRIDGE

Submitted by Editor on

Work begins bright and early on Monday morning to repair the dangerously torn surface of Powderhall Bridge leading into St Mark's Park (Issue 226, p.2).

Non-slip plywood will be removed, existing deck boards will be prepared, and a new anti-slip surface applied. The whole process will take about three weeks.

'Our aim is to carry out the works causing the least amount of inconvenience to both Pedestrians and Cyclists passing this location,' say Hy SPEC Services Ltd, who then go on to 'apologise in advance for any delays or inconvenience'.

We like the note of realism.

By happy accident, the work – which aims to make safe a significant number of trip hazards – is being overseen by a Contracts Manager named James Proudfoot.
