Work was already happening on the service, but has been accelerated to mitigate the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. New ‘essential and sudden-growth sectors’ include supermarkets, home deliveries, and the NHS.
It was developed, free of charge, by Hanlon Software Solutions.
The Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region deal was struck in August 2018. An Edinburgh Council press release this afternoon describes it as, ‘a UK and Scottish government-led investment in the region where 24% of Scotland’s population live, designed to accelerate productivity and inclusive growth through the funding of infrastructure, skills and innovation.
‘The UK and Scottish governments, and regional partners are investing £1.3bn over 10 years in transport, housing, culture, skills and employability and innovation. The regional partners include the six local authorities of Edinburgh, Midlothian, East Lothian, West Lothian, Fife and the Scottish Borders, plus universities and colleges in the region.’
