As reported in Issue 178, Jon Reid has left Drummond CHS for pastures old.
In Issue 149 we asked how long such a young and ambitious professional would remain. ‘I’m here to make a difference, and a sustainable improvement for staff and pupils,’ Reid replied. ‘I’m not going to let folk down. I can’t promise to stay forever but I can promise I’m not going to leave until the job is done.’

Job Vacancy Summary
Children & Families Head Teacher Drummond Community High School. Salary: £60,834 plus community allowance (currently £9,951 per annum - under review). Hours: 35 per week.
Online applicants only Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education. Drummond Community High School was built in the early 1920’s and is a non-denominational school which serves a central area of Edinburgh.
The current roll is 486.
There are 45.60 FTE teachers, including 6 probationers, and 26 members of support staff. The senior leadership team consists of a Headteacher, 1 Senior Depute Head Teacher, 2 Depute Headteachers, Business Manager and Community Programme Manager. The school was fully refurbished in 2003 and the very attractive learning environment supports learning and teaching for all learners. The school also has one of three City Inclusion Resources, designed to include pupils with moderate learning difficulties and there are currently 17 pupils who benefit from this provision.
The school has embraced the purposes and principles of Curriculum for Excellence and innovative practice for transitions and wider achievement and is involved at a national level in driving the agenda for CfE forward. Drummond was last inspected by HMIE in October 2009.
The school works in close partnership with the head teachers and students of the cluster primary schools. There are very strong links with the community and the facilities are well used by over 800 adult learners each week through the provision of a wide range of adult education classes and events.
The successful candidate would be expected to be ‘on duty’ for community purposes one evening per fortnight and one Saturday in four, during term-time.
