After what’s been a lovely summer, adult education classes at Drummond CHS start again on Monday 22 September 2014, writes Birgit Harris (Community Programme Manager).
You will be spoilt for choice.
Our programme – which runs until 5 December – contains highly popular classes like Art Club, Calligraphy, Dressmaking, Introduction to Artists’ Bookbinding, Printmaking with a Press, Hatha and Iyengar Yoga plus many more.
New classes are:

- Dollmaking (textile art)
- Hand Embroidery from Historical Sources (Elizabethan raised embroidery/stump work and gold work)

- Printmaking with a Press (daytime)
- Tapas Cookery (in Spanish)
- Textile Trimmings and Tricks (collars, cuffs, buttons)

All our language classes – French, German, Italian and Spanish – are taught by native speakers in a fun way, and you now also have the chance to learn how to cook Tapas in Spanish.
If a ten-week course is too long for you, then why not try a weekend class on Saturday 15November from 9.30am–2.45pm at the bargain price of £20 (or £10 concession):
- Big Band Voices and Horns
- Bookbinding (leather journals with decorative sewings)
- Casting Silver (using cuttlefish)
- Enamelling
- Experimental Printmaking
- Large-scale Artwork from the Human Figure
- Revive and Revamp a Hat or Make a Fascinator.

@theSpurtle @Drummond_CHS Tempted by Walk with Confidence the Catwalk Way. I'd utilise the promised 'Beyoncé swagger' on Great King Street.
@NewTownFlaneur @Drummond_CHS I fancy learning only tapas-related Spanish. Useful & would massively reduce time required to read Don Quixote
@theSpurtle @NewTownFlaneur @Drummond_CHS Elizabethan raised embroidery is the avant garde for New Town parlours.
