'Silly things do cease to be silly if they are done by sensible people in an impudent way.' But not, it seems, in the hands of Austentatious.
The six-strong troupe – much fêted in the national press and recently on BBC Radio 4 Extra's Comedy Club – are performing Crosstentatious: an improvised Regency novel in the style of Jane Austen based entirely on audience suggestions.
Expect 'wit, flirtation and dastardly behaviour' and, yes, silliness.
The show is FREE, but the really great thing about TODAY's performance is that donations will go to the Edinburgh branch of SSAFA and Waverley Care, the Mansfield Place-based charity which helps people living with HIV and Hepatitis C (Breaking news, 25.5.11).
The hour-long show starts at 1.30pm in the Counting House (Venue 170, 38 West Nicolson Street). Early arrival recommended. Book here.
